Telangana Records 10% Boost in GST Collection in October 2025 Amid Economic Challenges
The Telangana State experienced strong growth in its Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for October 2025. In comparison to the previous year, a 10 per cent increase has been noticed in the same month. Telangana in GST collection is beating several major states in the country, with a total gross monthly GST collection of Rs. 5,726 crores. Telangana is reinforcing its financial health amid a challenging economic environment.
As per the GST collected till October 31, 2025, an increase has been seen in the gross GST revenue of Telangana. Its GST revenue has increased from Rs 5,211 crore in October 2024 to Rs 5,726 crore this financial year, contributing to robust growth rates nationally.
This is better than some bigger states like Andhra Pradesh (which saw a 9% drop), Rajasthan (a 3% drop), and West Bengal (a 1% drop). However, even with this great boost, it is still behind top-performing states like Karnataka and Gujarat, which grew by 10% and 6%, respectively.
Telangana collected Rs 38,648 crore in net GST (after refunds and settlements) up to October 2025, compared to Rs 31,506 crore during the same time the previous year. Meaning, the state’s net revenue has increased by 23% in comparison to last year, showing better tax collection and compliance.
Telangana collected Rs 26,334 crores in SGST (including its share from IGST) after settlement this year, which is a steady growth of 4%. In comparison, Maharashtra collected much more, Rs 1,10,910 crores, with a stronger 15% growth. Telangana is a small state; considering this, it is still doing great.
However, experts suggest that to keep growing consistently, Telangana needs to work on getting more taxpayers and improving its digital tax systems, especially with economic changes and GST rate updates.
