Background
The company stated that the Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, through an order dated April 28, 2026, has temporarily put a stay on the tax demand of Rs 420.36 crore for the AY 2008-09.
This decision was made after the company submitted an application on April 27, 2026. The stay will continue until the pending appeal is decided by the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals). However, the stay may be reviewed timely, and if any tax refunds become due to the company, they can be adjusted against the outstanding demand.
