ICAI Awards Membership Certificates to 13,737 New Chartered Accountants at Convocation Ceremony
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) scheduled convocation ceremonies at 15 locations across the country, including New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad, Ernakulam, Vijayawada, Ahmedabad, Pune, Indore, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Ludhiana. At the ceremony, the ICAI awarded membership certificates to 13,737 newly qualified Chartered Accountants.
ICAI holds convocation two times a year to award the Certificate of Membership to newly qualified CA members to celebrate their hard work.
The event was inaugurated by Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI). She congratulated the new CAs and encouraged them to keep learning, as new technologies like AI, blockchain, and digital finance will help them grow in their profession. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI, and Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President of ICAI, chaired the New Delhi ceremony and administered the membership oath to the newly qualified CAs.
Kaur said that this day is to celebrate the hard work and sleepless nights of the members’ journey to becoming a CA. Highlighting the scope of the CA profession, she said that new CAs will have several opportunities because the CA qualification will help them grow professionally and personally. She urged the students to keep learning to adapt to the fast-changing technology.
She also emphasised the importance of Chartered Accountants in turning principles into practices to ensure transparency and compliance. She further said that there is a significant trust in the signature of CA, which affects the clients, stakeholders, markets and public interest. She called the CAs custodians of independence, objectivity, and integrity in every decision they make.
The ICAI president, Charanjot Singh Nanda, also stated that receiving their membership certificate marks an important milestone in their journey of becoming a professional from a student. He pointed out that Indian Chartered Accountants are seen as contributors to India’s development and growth, and soon, they will also be recognised globally for their role in strengthening international financial systems.
The CAs are the future of the country, which will help in reshaping the economy. As per an official statement of ICAI, the Chartered Accountants will make an important contribution to the government’s initiative called Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
