CBDT Issues Circular for Tax Audit Deadline Extension for AY 2025-26
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has given a major relief to taxpayers and tax professionals by extending the deadline for filing tax audit reports. As per CBDT Circular No. 14/2025, dated 25th September 2025, the due date for furnishing audit reports under the Income-tax Act for the financial year 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26) has been extended from 30th September 2025 to 31st October 2025.
The extension is followed by requests and protests by several taxpayers and tax bodies across the country, citing technical glitches on the income tax e-filing portal.
This extension is for the taxpayers who are required to get their accounts audited under the Income-tax Act. With this extension, the chartered accountants now have one more month to complete the audit process and submit the reports of their clients.
