Bombay HC Rejects Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s Request to Travel to Phuket Over Their Fraud Case

The Bombay High Court has recently rejected the plea of Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, to travel abroad for a trip, as it is looking out for a circular against them in a Rs 60 crore fraud case. The couple had planned a holiday to Phuket from October 2 to 5. Their flights and hotel were already booked. But after the court refused their request, they had to cancel the trip.

The couple, in their petition, have informed us that they have other international trips in the next few months that are important for their personal and professional reasons. They said that they have to go to Los Angeles between October 21 and October 24 for work purposes, and after that, they have to be in Colombo and the Maldives between October 26 and October 29.

Further, their plea also included a request for permission to travel internationally from December 20, 2025, to January 6, 2026, saying that the reason for their visit to Dubai and London was to meet Kundra’s parents.

Shetty and Kundra are currently under investigation due to a Rs 60 crore fraud case connected to their now-defunct company called Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd. Deepak Kothari, Director of UY Industries Pvt. Ltd., had filed the complaint claiming that he was deceived into investing in the company between 2015 and 2023. It was alleged that he provided an Rs 60.48 crore loan under an investment agreement and stated that Shetty had personally guaranteed the deal.

Their lawyers, Niranjan Mundargi and Keral Mehta, argued in the court that Shetty and Kundra had travelled abroad several times even after a case was filed against them in 2021. They said the couple always came back to India on time and cooperated with the investigation. The lawyers argued that, based on their past record, they should be allowed to travel this time too. However, the bench of Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam A. Ankhad was not satisfied by these claims and directed the Public Prosecutor to submit a reply.
