Advance Tax: Income Tax Department’s Bulk Messages Create Confusion Among Taxpayers

The Income Tax Department has once again started sending bulk emails and messages to taxpayers. The aim is to remind the taxpayers about advance tax compliance. However, there have been some issues with these bulk emails.

Many taxpayers are receiving messages that contain the exact same figures. Due to this, taxpayers are being confused, which is causing unnecessary panic among them.

The reminders are welcome and helpful for the taxpayers; however, identifying routine transactions such as normal purchases and sales as “significant transactions” is not appropriate.

Tax professionals believe that a friendly notification would help the taxpayer to check their advance tax liability and ensure timely payment of the same.
