Background of the Case

The company stated that it has received a demand notice from the Income Tax Department. The tax order was passed under Section 147 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. In this order, the tax officer has disallowed the deduction claimed by the company for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenses under Section 80G. The total deduction disallowed amounts to Rs. 1,68,43,609, which was originally claimed in the company’s tax return.
