Delhi HC Directs Actor Rajpal Yadav To Surrender in Cheque Bounce Case After Repeated Payment Settlement Failures
Bollywood Actor Rajpal Yadav is facing great trouble in a cheque-bounce case for continuously not paying the settlement amounts as promised to the court several times. The Honourable Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court, in a latest hearing, has directed Rajpal to surrender before the concerned Jail Superintendent by February 4.
Several cheque bounce cases are pending against actor Rajpal. Previously, the court had given him relief and extra time multiple times to clear out these pending cheques because he promised to pay the settlement money and solve the dispute.
The court observed that Rajpal had promised to make partial payments multiple times, including demand drafts and large instalments, but these were either deposited late or not deposited at all. For this careless behaviour, Rajpal gave different explanations, like incorrect dates in orders, typographical errors in demand drafts, or non-uploading of court orders.
However, the court considered all these reasons as unjustified and unacceptable, especially because Rajpal was all the time aware of the issues but still sought repeated adjournments without fulfilling their obligations. Even after he was given additional opportunities in January 2026 to deposit Rs. 40 lakhs and pay Rs. 2.10 crores, he again failed to make the payments.
Over time the court had been noticing that despite these assurances and several extensions, Rajpal failed to deposit the agreed settlement amounts for more than a year. Considering the continuous negligence from the side of the petitioner, the Court criticised Rajpal and refused to grant further relief and also cancelled the leniency given to him. The court has finally directed Rajal to surrender before the Jail Superintendent before February 4 to serve the sentence awarded by the trial court. The matter was listed again for compliance verification.
