Hitachi Slapped with GST Demand for Difference of Value Declared in TDS and GST Return
Hitachi Energy India Ltd, India’s leading power technology firm, has received a GST order from the Uttar Pradesh GST authorities, demanding Rs 9.02 Crore tax along with penalty and interest for FY 2021-22.
The company has disclosed the receipt of the above order under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations, 2015. The order issued on December 10, 2025, accuses the company of short payment of tax on outward supplies, discrepancies between the values reported in TDS and GST returns, and incorrect claims for input tax credit (ITC) on cancelled dealer invoices and blocked credits.
Due to the said violations, the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Uttar Pradesh, has issued an order demanding GST of Rs 9,02,10,392, a penalty of Rs 90,21,037 and interest under the UP SGST Act, 2017.
However, the company has disagreed with the above GST order and called it arbitrary, unjustified and unsustainable in law. The company has decided to file an appeal with the Appellate Authority within the given timeline.
