How Many Days Does it Take to Receive an Income Tax Refund?

In some cases, the taxpayers receive their income tax refund within a few hours, while some receive it in a month. This year, the income tax department is doing extra checks for the large refunds, slowing down the refund processing. As per the CBDT Chairman, the refunds may be released by December 2025.

Reasons for Delayed Income Tax Refund

There can be some other reasons affecting the credit of your income tax refund. These are as follows:

  • Your name on the PAN card does not match the name in your bank account.
  • Your PAN is not linked to your Aadhaar card.
  • Your bank is not pre-validated.
