ICAI Invites Suggestions for Simplification of ITRs and Related Forms

In an effort to make tax filing easier and more taxpayer-friendly, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is inviting suggestions and opinions from the members and other stakeholders on the simplification of Income Tax Return (ITR) and its related forms. It is a great opportunity for the members to share their thoughts and comments, which can contribute to the simplification.

Income Tax Act, 2025, which received its president’s assent on August 21, 2025, is applicable from April 1, 2026. The ICAI had earlier shared its recommendations on the review of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and also submitted detailed suggestions on the Income Tax-Bill 2025. More than 100 suggestions given by the ICAI were taken into consideration for the Income-tax Act 2025.

Now, the Directorate of Training, CBDT, has formed a sub-committee that aims to work on to simplify the Income Tax Returns (ITRs) and the other related forms. For this, the Sub-Committee has asked the Direct Tax Committee (DTC) of the ICAI to give its suggestions and opinions on the simplification and rationalisation of the ITRs and related forms. Therefore, the ICAI is inviting suggestions from the members and stakeholders to share their suggestions about the improvement of ITRs and related forms through this Google Form.

Everyone is requested to send their opinions before 27th October 2025, clearly mentioning the specific ITR or Form, the section or schedule, and the reason for the suggestion.
