ICAI Removes 4,337 CAs from Register Over Non-Payment of Membership Fees
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the removal of 4337 chartered accountants (CAs) from its Register of Members with effect from November 01, 2023, on grounds of non-payment of prescribed membership fees. The ICAI members are obliged to make timely payment of these fees for maintaining an active membership. Failure to do so can lead to removal from the official list of practising professionals.
The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has announced this major decision in pursuance of Regulation 18 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, through an Official Notification No. 3NCA (4)/1/2023-2024, dated March 21, 2026, in exercise of its powers granted under Section 20(1)(c) of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.
The members whose names have been removed will no longer be recognised as active members of ICAI and cannot practise as Chartered Accountants unless their membership is restored according to the prescribed rules.
To know the complete list of chartered accountants whose names have been removed from the ICAI Register of Members, refer to the official notification.
