Good News For Taxpayers and Professionals! Karnataka High Court Orders CBDT to Extend Tax Audit Due Date
The Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association (KSCAA) had earlier filed a writ petition against the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), before the Karnataka High Court, urging it to extend the due date for filing the tax audit report for the financial year 2024-25.
Due to income tax portal glitches, reduced timelines, overlapping compliance due dates and system challenges, many professionals have been finding it difficult to meet the original due date. The KSCAA have given an important update on their writ petition.
In a major relief for the Chartered Accountants and taxpayers, the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka has directed them to extend the Tax Audit Due date to October 31, 2025. The KSCAA has informed us that the judgement copy will be released by September 25, 2025.
The matter was represented by Senior Counsel Adv. Vikram Huilgol and Adv. Sandeep Huilgol, and that too on short notice, drafting the writ in a timely manner and representing the association effectively. KSCAA has thanked all its members for their support and efforts.
This is good news for all the CA community and the taxpayers, as they will be able to file the tax audit report on time and accurately without getting penalised for anything.
