Govt Denies Reports of Aadhaar “New Look,” Says No Changes Planned

On May 03, 2026, the Ministry of Electronics and IT has recently issued a clarification on some news reports on the “new look” of Aadhaar.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT has dismissed recent reports claiming that Aadhaar will soon have a “new look.” Some news articles and social media posts suggested that the Aadhaar card would be changed to show only a photo and a QR code by the end of the year. However, the ministry has made it clear that this information is false and there are no such plans.

Ministry stated, “This is NOT CORRECT. There is no plan for any such changes.

Officials said these rumours are creating confusion among people. They advised the public to ignore such claims and trust only official updates from UIDAI and press releases shared through PIB. The media has also been asked not to spread unverified or misleading information.
