GST New Update: Receiving GST Welcome Kit Now Mandatory
If you are a new GST-registered taxpayer, here is an important update that you must know. As per the new Simplified GST Registration Scheme under Rule 14A of the CGST Act, it is now mandatory to receive a Welcome Kit from the GST department.
A GST welcome kit is a document that gives you the important details about your GST registration and helps you to understand the process in simple language, free from jargon. The kit explains the process involved in GST compliance, Do’s and Don’ts of GST good practices to make the GST journey easy for the taxpayers. The GST kit includes a step-by-step guide to getting started with GST, an introduction to the services available on the GST portal, information on filing returns, clarification on GST laws, etc. This welcome kit will be sent to your registered address after the completion of your GST registration.
Taxpayers must note that if their Welcome Kit is undelivered due to an incorrect address or any other reason, it will be returned to the proper officer, and their GSTIN may be suspended. This can affect your business and result in penalties. Therefore, make sure your address is correct, complete, and updated while applying for the GST registration. A mistake can result in non-delivery and suo moto suspension by the GST department.
