ITR Filing: How to Verify Your Income Tax Return After Filing

It is important to fill your Income Tax Return (ITR) to manage your finances properly. After filling the ITR you are required to verify your ITR as well. When you verify your ITR it makes your return valid. Let’s know more about the verification process of ITR.

Importance of verification

Verification confirms the originality of your ITR filing.

The Income Tax Department follows this step to make sure that all the provided informations are correct and the filling is done by you. If you don’t verify then your ITR will not process, that can result in the delay of refunds or create problems.

Methods of Verifying ITR

There are so many ways available by which you can verify your ITR. The methods are available in both online and offline mode. Some common options are:

1. Adhar Card OTP:

You can use this method if your phone number is linked with your Aadhar card.

At first, login into the Income Tax e-filing portal.

Then, choose the option to verify using your Aadhar OTP.

You’ll receive an OTP in your registered phone

After that Confirm the OTP and Your ITR is Verified

2. Net Banking:

Many banks provides the facility to verify your ITR through net banking portal.

Firstly, login to your net banking account.

After the login, select the e-verify option.

Follow the instructions to complete the verification process.

3. Bank Account EVC:

You’ll need Pre-validation of your bank account for this method.

After the bank account is validated, you can request an Electronic Verification Code (EVC).

Now enter the EVC on the e-filing portal for the verification of your return.

Offline Methods

You can send a signed copy of the ITR-V (Verification Form) to the Centralized Processing Center (CPC) in Banglore.

Sign the form in blue ink and sent via ordinary or speed post within 120 days of filling your return.

4. Send the Hard Copy of your ITR to Income Tax Department

This is the offline Process

You need to take the Print out of ITR V

Send the Printout of ITR V to Income Tax CPC Bangalore Office

Send it through Speed post or Normal post

Once it is received it by CPC Bangalore your ITR will be Verified.
