Kerala Welfare Pension Update: Expected Monthly Pension Payment of Rs.1,600 for Beneficiaries Next Week
Beneficiaries of Kerala’s social security and welfare pension schemes are expected to receive a monthly pension of Rs.1,600 starting from Wednesday.
As per the report, the government allocated Rs.900 crore to settle November arrears. At present, there are six months of unpaid pensions that the government needs to settle.
Out of the 62 lakh beneficiaries, everyone who has gone through the mustering process, i.e., who have submitted their life certificates, will receive their pension. The pension amount will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries who have submitted their bank account details to the government. Those who have not submitted their bank account details to the government will receive the pension through cooperative societies.
In May 2023 the state faced a major shortage of funds, which unfortunately led to the temporary suspension of pension distribution. However, by August the government had resolved the issue and was able to pay the pensions for May and June before Onam. Just in time for Christmas, they cleared the July pension arrears. In April the government also made sure to distribute Rs.3,200 to the beneficiaries before Vishu and Ramadan, covering the arrears for September and October. They’re doing their best to catch up and make things right.
