Nitin Gadkari Calls Campaign Against E20 Programme Paid and Political
The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, at the SIAM Convention 2025, shared that the social media campaign against E20 Fuel was a paid and political campaign that was targeting him. He informed us that these have been proved wrong. He further said that the Supreme Court has dismissed the petitions that were questioning the implementation of the E20 programme.
He highlighted that all testing agencies have no issue with the introduction of the E20 Programme. Calling E20 Fuel an important substitute, Gadkari highlighted the benefits of this fuel, such as cost-effectiveness and pollution control.
The E20 Fuel replaced the E10 petrol with 10% ethanol, which is used in a large number of cars in India. Ethanol is an alcohol that is extracted from sugarcane and food grains.
While many people were contending that mixing ethanol can cause harm to the vehicle’s efficiency, Gadkari supported the ethanol programme, saying that India will be less reliant on imported crude oil.
He has urged the Finance Minister to provide GST relief for customers scrapping old vehicles to purchase new ones.
