On December 5, 2025 Lok Sabha MP, Supriya Sule From the Nationalist Congress party introduced the Right to Disconnect Bill 2025 in Lok Sabha.
The Right to Disconnect Bill 2025 is a bill to establish the right of employees to disconnect from work-related telephone calls and emails after work hours and on holidays.
Supriya Sule also posted about this on her social media platform X (Previously Known as Twitter), she added “fosters a better quality of life and a healthier work-life balance by reducing the burnout caused by today’s digital culture”. Apart from the Right to Disconnect Bill 2025 she also introduced two other private member’s bills-Paternity and Paternal Benefits Bill, 2025.

- Employees can choose not to take calls or answer emails after their work hours are over.
- They don’t have to respond to their boss or company once their official work time has ended.
- If an employee agrees to work after hours, they must be paid extra for that additional work.
- No employee can be punished for not responding after work hours.
- The Bill suggests creating “digital detox centres” where people can get help to reduce stress from using phones, laptops, and other digital tools.
- Companies may have to pay a fine of 1% of their total employee salary budget if they break these rules.
