Rajasthan GST Practitioners Association Submits Representation to Finance Minister Seeking ITR and Tax Audit Report Due Date Extension
The Rajasthan GST Practitioners Association (RGPA) has recently submitted a formal representation dated September 10, 2025, regarding the extension of due dates for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for non-audit cases and The Filing of Tax Audit reports (TAR) for the Assessment Year 2025-26 (FY 2024-25). They have submitted the following issues:
Position of Due Date
The association has highlighted that there is a smaller time gap between the latest ITR filing due date and the Tax Audit Report Filing due date. Usually, the due date of filing ITR is July 31, and at this time, the taxpayers start finalising their audit cases from September 1. They have almost 2 months for the tax audit work.
But in the current situation, the due date for filing ITR for non-audit cases is September 15, 2025. This has created a situation where taxpayers get only 15 days between filing ITRs and starting audit work, which makes the audit filing timeline very short.
Technical and Practical Difficulties
The association also pointed out the issues faced on the income tax portal. They stated that it does not operate smoothly and has lots of technical glitches, which again adds more pressure on the taxpayers and professionals.
Additionally, the professionals are working on filing non-audit ITRs and doing the audit assignment, which adds a burden on them.
They requested the due dates to be extended as follows:
- Non-Audit ITR Filing: Extend to 30th September 2025
- Tax Audit Report (TAR) Filing: Extend to 30th November 2025.
This extension will give a reasonable time of a two-month gap between the filing of non-audit ITRs and audit cases. This way the professionals will be able to complete both compliances effectively, without affecting the quality of tax filing.
While concluding the representation, they assured that the tax professionals are committed to timely compliance. RGPA requested to ensure that the compliance burden is manageable and not stressful due to the clash of due dates and portal glitches.
