ICAI Reminder on Completion of Pending CPE Hours for Calendar Year 2024
An official notification has been released regarding reminding individuals to complete their pending CPE Hours for Calendar Year 2024, at the Latest by June 30, 2025. This notification is in continuation of the earlier notification dated 30-12-2024, with the subject, “Extension of last date of CPE hours’ compliance for the Calendar year 2024 – From 31st December, 2024 to 28th February, 2025.”
As per the announcement made, rules regarding consequences if members do not complete their needed Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours every year began from the calendar year 2024. For the year 2024 and the upcoming years, the first stage of these rules (called Level I) will usually be made effective from January 1st to June 30th.
However, for the year 2024 only, this period has been adjusted — it will now begin on March 1st rather than January 1st and still end on June 30th. This amendment was made to make things easier for members.
Hence, all individuals are requested to thoroughly examine their CPE Compliances for calendar year 2024 according to the above notification and according to CPE Hours Requirements for Members for Each Calendar Year Applicable from 1-1-2023 onwards and if you have followed the CPE requirements, please ignore the email below and send this information to other professional colleagues.
But if you are still due to satisfy the requirements, then you are advised to finish the requisite CPE hours for Calendar year 2024, as mentioned for non-compliant members at Level I of “Consequential provisions for non-compliance with CPE hours requirement on a yearly basis from calendar year 2024 onwards”, till June 30, 2025, and the date will not be extended further.
Significant Details:
1. Members who are disobedient with the CPE hours requirements for 2024 are presently at Level I, and the Consequential provision at Level I is given below:
Members who are unable to finish the CPE requirement by the end of the calendar year 2024 will be awarded extra time till June 30, 2025, to make up for the shortfall. They should obtain twice the shortfall in CPE hours, along with the regular CPE hours requirement for 2025.
2. Those who are unable to follow the CPE hours requirement for the year 2024 by the due date, June 30, 2025, will increase their status to Level II and subsequent levels, according to Consequential Provisions (refer to page 4 at https://shorturl.at/RI9c8 for illustration). Consequences of Level II include the following:
Members who don’t follow the rules by 30th June 2025 will be marked as non-compliant from 1st July 2025. This status will show on the CPE Portal under their login until they meet all the requirements.
This is a friendly reminder to all members who haven’t completed their CPE for the 2024 calendar year. Please finish it by 30th June 2025 to avoid moving to Level II and facing further consequences.
