HDFC Credit Cards to Introduce New Fees on Rent, Gaming, and Rewards Starting July 1, 2025

HDFC Bank, which is India’s biggest private bank by market value, has announced that it will make important changes to how much it charges for credit card services and how rewards work. The new fees will start from July 1, 2025, and will apply to rent payments, online gaming, and adding money to digital wallets. The bank has also changed the limits on how many reward points you can earn from insurance purchases.

Rent payment transactions

You will now have to pay a fee of 1% when you pay rent using your HDFC credit card. This fee will be calculated on the total rent amount you pay and will not go above Rs 4,999 per month.

Online skill-based gaming

For online skill-based gaming, you will also have to pay a 1% fee if your total gaming spending goes above Rs 10,000 in one month. This charge will be applied to the full amount you spend on gaming in that month, but the maximum fee will be limited to Rs 4,999 per transaction.

Wallet loading transactions

When you add money to digital wallets (except PayZapp), you will be charged a 1% fee if your monthly wallet loading goes above Rs 10,000. The fee will be calculated on the total amount you add to wallets in that month and will be capped at Rs 4,999 per transaction.

What is Payzapp?

PayZapp is a digital payment app that HDFC Bank offers to its customers. This app lets you pay bills, transfer money, and shop online without needing to have a bank account or credit/debit cards.

Reward point accrual for insurance transactions

The number of reward points you can earn from insurance purchases will now have monthly limits. If you have Infinia and Infinia Metal Edition cards, you can earn up to 10,000 points per month. If you have Diners Black, Diners Black Metal, H.O.G Diners Club, and BizBlack Metal Cards, you can earn up to 5,000 points monthly.

According to HDFC Bank’s Most Important Terms and Conditions,Starting December 20, 2019, reward points earned from insurance purchases will have a maximum limit of Rs 5,000 per day for Infinia, Infinia Metal Edition, Diners Black Metal Edition, Diners Black cards, H.O.G Diners Club & BizBlack Metal Card and Rs 2,000 per day for all other credit cards. This rule will continue until June 30, 2025.”

Other credit cards

All other HDFC Bank credit cards will have a limit of 2,000 reward points per month for money spent on insurance.

Credit cards with no Capping

However, there will be no limit on Marriott Bonvoy Points for insurance purchases made using the Marriott Bonvoy HDFC Bank Credit Card.

Transactions with no reward or cash points 

It is also important to know that starting from the same date, you will not earn any Reward Points or CashPoints when you spend money on online skill-based gaming using any HDFC credit card.

Lounge access details from June 10, 2025

Starting June 10, 2025, HDFC Bank has changed how airport lounge access works for people who have Tata Neu Infinity and Tata Neu Plus credit cards. The new rules say that you cannot get into domestic airport lounges by directly showing your credit card at the lounge. Instead, eligible customers will receive lounge vouchers based on how much they spend every three months.
