ICAI Disciplinary Committee Notifies Removal of a CA Name from Register of Members for One Year

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the largest professional accounting body in India, has issued a notification, dated April 13, 2026, informing about the removal of the name of a Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Register of Members for a period of one year.

According to the notification, the ICAI Disciplinary Committee had initially directed for the removed name of CA Yogesh Parshottam Gori (Membership No. 132809), 202, Fortune Plaza Premises co-operative Society Limited, Plot Nos. 29 & 30, Sector 19A, Behind Shakti Motors & Commodities, Exchange Building, Vashi, NAVI MUMBAI 400 705, from the Register of Members for a period of 01 (one) year, for being guilty of Professional Misconduct falling within the meaning of Item (7) of Part I of the Second Schedule and Other Misconduct falling within the meaning of Item (2) of Part IV of the First Schedule to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, under Rule 18(17) of the Chartered Accountants (Procedure of Investigations of Professional and Other Misconduct and Conduct of Cases) Rules, 2007.

Thereafter, the Chartered Accountant (CA), being aggrieved with the aforementioned action of the ICAI Disciplinary Committee, filed a case before the Appellate Authority under Section 22G of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, within the statutory time limit of 90 days of receiving an order, in appeal no. 24/ICAI/2021. However, the Appellate Authority upheld the ICAI Disciplinary Committee’s decision through an order dated April 01, 2023. Subsequently, the CA filed a writ petition No. WP/5823/2023, before the Bombay High Court. However, after thoroughly analysing the entire case, the court concluded to dismiss the petition through an order dated January 28, 2026, on grounds of non-prosecution.

Considering the aforementioned ruling of the Appellate Authority and the Bombay High Court, the ICAI Disciplinary Committee passed an order against CA Yogesh Parshottam Gori, in exercise of its powers granted under Section 20(2) of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, officially announcing that under Regulation 18 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, his name will be removed from the register of Chartered Accountants for one year, with effect from April 15, 2026.
