ICAI Submits Suggestions on Strengthening GST Framework and Ease of Doing Business

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has recently shared its suggestions on enhancing the ease of doing business.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, known as the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. It is responsible for regulating and developing the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India. ICAI is the largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world and has a long-standing tradition of serving the Indian economy in the public interest.

The GST and Indirect Taxes Committee of the ICAI plays a significant role in supporting the Government’s GST initiatives through policy advisory, capacity-building programmes, and effective knowledge dissemination. The Committee extended consistent and meaningful support to the Government during the rollout of GST by providing valuable inputs on GST laws and procedures, while also undertaking extensive awareness and training initiatives for stakeholders across the country.

ICAI added that the committee is pleased to place on record its considered recommendations on key issues affecting the Ease of Doing Business. These recommendations seek to further strengthen the GST framework, improve procedural efficiency, and offer practical solutions to the recurring challenges faced by trade and industry.

The Committee has told the Government that it is ready to give any further explanations or supporting information if needed. For this purpose, the main office bearers of the Committee have been appointed as contact persons. These are as follows:
